How Our Knights of Scamalot Are Protecting Utahns from Fraud

Challenge illustration: overcoming obstacles

Challenge

Get-rich-quick, crypto and Ponzi schemes, phishing scams, real estate investments, and construction frauds are on the rise in Utah. Fraudsters were preying on Utahns, enticing them with fast, high-yield returns on their cash investments, quick and cheap driveway pours, and promises of romance for merely the cost of a plane ticket were rampant – Utahns weren’t sure about where to turn to help protect themselves.

Solution

Enter “The Knights of Scamalot,” which reached both English- and Spanish-speaking Utahns to help them defend themselves against fraudulent ne’er-do-wells. A mix of communication channels (mass media, social media, digital & outdoor advertising) educated Utahns about the most common scams and drove them to Scams.Utah.gov as the trusted resource to help protect themselves.
